Sase Mine - Tenth Anniversary & Mining Conference

On the 14th May, the Minister of Industry, Energy & Mining, Mr Petar Djokic opened the first Mining & Geological Conference to be held in Bosnia & Herzegovina for over 20 years. The management of Gross, the Mineco subsisdary that operates the Sase mine, organised the conference as a way of marking the tenth anniversary of its acquisition in 2005. A particular focus was placed on the environmental rehabilitation programme that has seen the closed tailing dams converted to landscaped gardens, sports facilities and pasture for the mine's growing livestock holdings! We were particularly proud to welcome HMA Edward Ferguson to attend the Conference and visit the mine. Afterwards he gave a statement to the national press - watch now.

During the two days of the Conference over 20 scientific papers were presented by eminent experts from across Bosnia & Herzegovina and the wider region. A great success, we plan to repeat this annually and are very proud to play our party in re-invigorating the academic vigour that had been lost after the war.
